Which, as everyone knows always fall on Tuesdays for some reason...
Today's mashup is of the muppets and gansta rap. Which are two great flavors that taste great together.

Sunday Night Recap
Someday, I will learn to pay attention to the world outside of my apartment. Until then, I will tell you what happened with me.
I had a good week.
There was some difficulty getting into my writing groove: spent a simply fabulous day at the DMV and ended up going out every night out in some capacity or another threw off my routine. Still, I managed to finish a first draft of 'Blood Tusk: A Child's Primer' and spend quite a bit of time rewriting Mortal Song.
I finished Booklife and Fans, Friends and Followers. Both were excellent books. Both intimidate and inspire me. Reviews forthcoming.
I created a mailing list of my 'fans.' This turned out to be an incredible pain. But now I can use it to tell my acquaintances things like the next version of 'CHEMO: Town of Golden Woods' is being published on the 5th.
I sent out 'Adjoining Room' to my writer's group for feedback and advice, we'll have to see how that works out. I contacted a potential proofreader, something I need like a puppy needs housebreaking.
I pretended to read Elements of Style. That book bores me to video games.
I decided to start pod-casting my 'memoir' The Shack except, because I can apparently psychic at predict future branding campaigns via my satirical titles, I am retitling the thing Transistor Hut. As you can plainly see, the cleverness of my lawsuit avoidance strategies is mother f*ing incredible. I rewrote the first bit and asked a lady if I can use her song as an intro/promo for the chapters.
I also finished Dress your Family in Corduroy and Denim and I am about twenty pages from completing Ancestor.
I went to a really cool bar and wrote about it.
My friend made this, in response to this. Yeah, he's pretty awesome.
I remain desperate for comments.

A Scene
Noble Experiment is a bar within a bar. A touch of exclusivity, a touch of mystery transforms what would be a narrow back room dead space into a trim, coveted lounge. Hundreds of golden skulls glitter from the walls and it feel like if you reach into the right one you'll find an urban treasure map. Everyone mingles and talks -even the bartenders- and it never feels disingenuous. Twelve dollars will get you the best cocktail you've never heard of after you reveal your spirit preference for a 'dealer's choice.'
Noble Experiment is classic style, exceptional service wrapped around the cleverest bar name this side of Clever Namesville. You'll feel cooler the moment you walk in.
Go here. Text when you want to go, how many people you're bringing and what's your name to the number on the page. They'll respond with a confirmation... or not. Enter Neighborhood, walk past the bathrooms and push on the 'kegs.' Bonus points if you play the Legend of Zelda secret discovered' noise as you do so.

Sunday Recap
Apparently, I am still not paying attention to the world around me and hence can't really recap what happened outside my apartment. Here are the scraps I garnered: unemployment rates didn’t improve, people continued to die (and lots of money continued to be ‘spent’) in Afghanistan and Iraq and we as a world continued to utilized finite nonrenewable resources as they they were not finite and were in fact renewable. Everyone feigned shock and disgust as Facebook opened up another field of personal information to retrieve and monetize. Scott Pilgrim was an amazing movie that does justice to the graphic novels. Hipsters continue to be universally loathed.
On a personal level, being on unemployment continues to kicks ass. I have reached the point where a failure to write during the day makes me feel ‘itchy.' I know I will most probably go back to working a day job at some point, but in the meantime I am very much trying to squeeze every bit of cool juice out of being paid to look for work. This means writing, making art and being awesome to the greatest possible degree.
I finished a first draft of ‘Hush’ and ‘Honey’ (which I had originally called ‘Infestation’). I went to a writer’s group meeting which always leaves me feeling inspired. Additionally, I resumed rewriting Mortal Song with the goal of sending out Agent query letters about it starting next month. (Note that is Agent with a capitol A... cause they're important.)
‘Adjoining Room’ was rejected by Clarke’s World, I am going to bounce it off my writer’s group before I submit it elsewhere. The adaptation of ‘CHEMO: Town of Golden Woods’ was delayed until the 5th of September. I created a mailing list to let my ‘fans’ know whenever something happens. You can be added by clicking that link over on the right. (Note: Link may or may not exist by the time you read this.)
I am trying to break my crippling addiction to semicolons; because the late Kurt Vonnegut's Twitter account said they suck.
I have decided to podcast The Shack because I love the story. Moreover, novella length humorous retail memoirs of a complete unknown aren't burning up the bestseller lists right now. My goal is to gain some fans and a pinch of notoriety in the process. I think it will be fun.
I figured out what Twitter is for, but I fear I don’t have the internet stamina to use it properly
That was my week, how was yours?

Sunday Night Recap
I've decided to use Sundays to post a recap of my week. In the future, I intend to summarize what's going on in my communities, my country and my world... but this week has been insular so I'll be limited to talking about myself. Big surprise there right?
I posted 'I am Moloch' after deciding it was simply too weird to be published anywhere else. Two days after I blogged it, I discovered The New Flesh which would have been a great fit for a flash version of the piece... ah well. I submitted 'Adjoining Room' -a horror short story- to Clarkesworld. According to the invaluable Duotrope, their response time is nothing short of unbelievable. In addition to consistently putting out great fiction, they do some really neat things in publishing (pairing newbie writers with established authors, releasing limited edition chapbooks etc).
After nearly drowning in the free time that comes of being a full time writer, my wife helped me develop a very aggressive schedule to keep the procrastination demons away.
I was able to write a complete short story this week. I am calling it 'Hush.' The goal is to keep turning out a short fiction piece every week (this week I will be working on story called 'Infestation.') In addition to the shorts, my aim is to complete the next draft of Mortal Song (my militant urban fantasy) done this month and first draft of CHEMO: How I Learned to Kill (my military Science Fiction/Horror novel) done by the end of September. In addition to this I'm looking into grant writing, working on some ad-copy and chasing a thousand other glittering distractions.
The next version of 'CHEMO: The Town of Golden Woods' comes out at 19 Nocturne Boulevard in a week. 'CHEMO: The Condemned' due to come out with the Dunesteef and 'Ignoring the Overlay' coming out in Starship Sofa except I have no idea when.
Other than my writing, this week was full to bursting: a surprise birthday party, my dad's birthday, my brother staying the night, and some friends visit from out of town (which I sadly did not get a chance to spend enough time together, sorry Tanner). I hope to get enough collages made by the end of the week to have a coffee shop show.
I want to blog more, but don't have the greatest sense of direction. Readers, anything you especially like? Anything you detest? Any comments whatsoever? *cricket noise, cricket noise*
I'm reading too many books at the moment but Jeff Vandermeer's Booklife
(which was a recommendation from my writer's group) is quite good. Also, Unwritten Vol. 1
was incredible, brilliant and left me desperate to get my grubby mitts on the second volume.

I am Moloch (Edited)
This is going to take some explanation.
I made a... thing. It is called 'I am Moloch.' It's not a story, not exactly. There is a plot, but its hidden within a twisting series of rants and ramblings. It wasn't intended to be read straight through but rather almost like a 'choose your own adventure' where the 'adventure' is the arrangement of the paranoid mutterings. Moreover, the work is interspersed with links and video that you can ignore or chase endlessly.
I wrote 'I am Moloch' because of my love of conspiracy theories, internet weirdness, falling down 'wiki' holes and meta-fiction. I wrote 'I am Moloch' for a secret purpose that's referenced at the end. I am posting 'I am Moloch' myself because -after six months of trying- I frankly think it is too weird for anyone else to publish.
If you are interested in it you can read 'I am Moloch' in the format it was designed for here. If you can get over the (intentional) shittiness of that format you can read it as flat text here. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Yet Another Terrifying Humanoid Robot from Japan!
I swear that entire island slid down into the uncanny valley years ago...
There is no way you can convince me that this video is not the first five minutes of a horror movie. I can just see it growing whipping tentacles out of its limb nubs... slithering across the floor to get you.

Inception
I adored Inception. Here is a brilliant essay arguing that the film is really about making movies, and specifically how Christopher Nolan makes movies. Link Nolan is one of a four directors whose work I will see without question. Do you have any directors like that?

Man I really want to see Tron legacy, but first I have to show my wife the original. While I'm at it, here's Tron + Depeche Mode.
